Preparation for Confirmation is usually offered when children are in the sixth or seventh grades (age 11 to 13). These young people meet once a week for two 10 week semesters: Semester I runs from Fall to Early Winter; Semester II begins in the Late Winter and ends in the Spring. During this time they study The Apostles Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, Old Testament and New Testament passages, basic Christian doctrine and the history and practice of the Presbyterian Church. The Apostles Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, Psalm 23 and a ‘favorite Scripture verse’ are memorized. Church service projects are performed. Upon completion of the two semesters, Confirmands are received into the active membership of the Church and celebrated with a grand reception after worship. A Confirmation Celebration Trip is also planned for them.
