The holidays can be tough for families dealing with hunger on a daily basis.
We are collecting food for the upcoming holidays in November and December, which will be delivered to local school food pantries. This year, we will be making up complete holiday food boxes for the recipients. Listed below are items that could be included in the boxes:
Canned vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, rice, cranberry sauce, canned fruit, dry fruit, apple sauce, chicken, beef or vegetable broth, dry pasta, pasta sauce, can tomatoes, peanut butter, cake mixes (just add water), fresh produce—potatoes, carrots, onions; fresh fruit—apples, oranges; boxed stuffing, can soup, shelf stable milk or milk substitutes, and of course, frozen turkeys (for Thanksgiving food boxes); and hams (for Christmas food boxes).
Please remember, only donate food that hasn’t reached it’s “sell by” date.
The Thanksgiving food drive will run from October 29 to November 12.
The Christmas food drive will run from November 26 to December 17.
